Swoon Ottoman Quilt
The Girls (Beezoo and Moomoo) both like to be close to us when we watch TV. They are usually found relaxing on the ottoman, but to be honest I hate vacuuming their hair off of the ottoman when guests come over. Here is where my
laziness, errr my effective use of time comes into play. I decided I would make a quick quilt to cover the ottoman for The Girls to lay on and then when people come over, I can pull it off and throw it in the laundry room.
I have been seeing a lot of “Swoon” quilts by Camille Roskelly on Instagram. I love the big format block and thought it would be the perfect idea for my ottoman quilt.
I used my walking foot for my Bernina to sew straight diagonal lines that matched the pieced star in the middle of the quilt. If you have never used a walking foot for quilting, I suggest you try. I am very excited to try a few different stitches on my next quilt.
I backed this quilt with a fun flower pattern to emulate the Swoon Pattern on the front of the quilt. I then bound it with the same solid blue fabric that was used on the front of the quilt. Are you surprised I used the blue fabric?
Of course The Girls love it and before I could even take pictures they had already claimed this quilt for themselves. This was a very fun block and I look forward to finding the right fabric to pull together a complete Swoon Quilt. I am going to look through my patterns and see what other blocks I can ‘enlarge’ as a focus block for a small baby quilt or dog quilt.
